Obituary for Earl Scott Taylor, Sr.

Earl Scott Taylor, Sr., age 86, of Lapeer, formerly of Brooksville, Florida, Pikeville, Kentucky and North Branch, died Saturday, May 5, 2018. Earl was born October 16, 1931 in Fedscreek, Kentucky, to Charles Vincent and Lily Ann (Green) Taylor.

Mr. Taylor proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his service in the military, he came home to Kentucky and worked in the Coal Mines. In 1968 he took a job with GM Truck & Bus in Pontiac as a Repairman, retiring in 1994. He married Thelma Lee Campbell on March 28, 1970 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Earl was a member of the Lapeer Church of God since 1975. He was an Amateur – “Extra” Ham Radio Operator, call letters KG4APH. Mr. Taylor enjoyed hunting, fishing, CB Radios, gardening, hunting dogs (Ranger), just being outside, working on cars and especially time spent with his son. Mr. Taylor never let the stroke he had 19 years ago slow him down. He loved to tinker with clocks, small engines, electrical “stuff”….anything that could be taken apart. Earl was always moving, there was “No Quit” in the man!!

Earl is survived by his wife: Thelma Taylor of Lapeer; children: Earl (Katrina) Taylor, II of Lapeer, Catrina Duffy of Lapeer and Pamela Mahaffy of Danvers, Massachusetts; grandchildren: Michelle Taylor, David Holder, Joshua Garland, John Garland, Anna Byker, Drake Hittle, Cheyenne Hittle, Faith Taylor, Connor Taylor and Aaron Neal; great-grandchildren: Codey, Avery, Elijah, Hudson, Henry and Aiden; and sister: Helen (James) Warner of Saltillo, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Charles and Lily Taylor; son-in-laws: Timothy Duffy and Kevin Mahaffy brother: Charles “Sam” Taylor; sisters: Sylvia Dodge, Mildred Blackburn, Cynthia Miller and baby sister: Belvie Geniva Taylor.

Visitation will be 4-8PM Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Earl’s funeral service will be 11AM Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lapeer, with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.MuirBrothersLapeer.com..
