Obituary for Kathleen Jean Woloszyk

Kathleen Jean Woloszyk, 78, of Attica (formerly of Sterling Heights), died Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Kathleen was born July 6, 1940 in Detroit to Paul and Janet (Major) LaPrairie. She attended St. James Catholic School, Ferndale, Michigan through both elementary and high school – she graduated in 1958. She married Ronald Woloszyk on January 7, 1961 in Ferndale at St. James. After raising six children Kathy went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Oakland University. She then went to work for Warren Consolidated Schools. Kathy worked primarily with adult immigrant education at Butcher Elementary for almost 30 years. Kathy was a devout catholic her entire life and a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer. Kathy was a wonderful cook and will always be remembered for her poppy seed cake, tourtiere pies, strawberry jam and the best landslide earthquake cakes. She raised hedgehogs, emus and an assortment of farm animals during her and Ron’s retirement. Kathy loved spending long summers with family at Mullet Lake

Kathy is survived by her husband, Ron Woloszyk; six children: Andrea (Bert) Sehling of Warren, Brian (Deb) Woloszyk of Oxford, Annette (Don) Adsit of Washington Township, Mark (Sue) Woloszyk of Attica, Stephen (Kim) Woloszyk of East Pointe and Kara (John) Harrison of Kalkaska; fourteen grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael), Bert (Kortnea), Erica (Paul), Ryan, Justin, Zachary, Christopher, Connor, Paul, Brad, Todd, Nate, Trevor and Tyler; seven siblings: JoAnn (Richard) Aiello of Livonia, Mary LaPrairie of Richmond, Rose (Mike) Scherb of Tuscan, AZ, Jon (Linda) LaPrairie of Cheboygan, David (Kathy) LaPrairie of Warren, Pierre LaPrairie of Troy and Dennis LaPrairie of Rochester Hills. Kathy is also survived by a host of nieces & nephews and many beloved extended family members. She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kindred Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation will be 2-4/5-8PM Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rosary will be prayed at 7PM Thursday evening at Muir Brothers. Mass will be at 11:00AM Friday, October 19, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church, 814 West Nepessing Street, Lapeer, Michigan 48446. Father Joseph Tuskiewicz will officiate. Final interment will be in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Alverno, Michigan (only a short distance from her beloved Mullet Lake).
