Obituary for Polly Edgett

Polly Edgett, age 72, lifetime Lapeer resident, died Wednesday, December 27, 2018. She was born February 1, 1946 in Lapeer, to Kenneth and Harriett (Westfall) Miller.

Mrs. Edgett worked in food service most of her life, she was an excellent waitress and cook, and was proud to have owned and operated Jolly Polly’s Restaurant in Imlay City for many years. Polly enjoyed time spent at Lapeer Fraternal Order of Eagles #2427, Lapeer Loyal Order Moose Lodge #2433 and American Legion Post #16, helping with fundraisers and spending time with dear friends. She was a friend to everyone, never hesitating to help anyone who needed a job, a place to stay, food or clothing. Mrs. Edgett loved to play Keno, loved to cook for friends and family, often helped the elderly and especially cherished time with family. Polly was a hardworking, giving, loyal, loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Polly is survived by her children: Lorie Ritch of Lapeer, Donald (Dee) Street of Metamora, Willie (Wayne Alspach) McComb of Silverwood and Judy (Edward) Hoover of Lapeer; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; siblings: Virginia Smith of Lapeer, Agnes White of Lapeer, Margaret (Leon) Johnson of Lapeer, Kenneth Miller of Mayville, Barbara Johnson of Lapeer, Katie Halstead of Lapeer, Bill (Theresa) Miller of Silverwood, Donnie Wayne (Darlene) Miller of Lapeer, Sam Miller of Lapeer and Tammy (Kim) McLellan of Auburn Hills; and many many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son: Bing “BJ” Street; parents Kenneth and Harriett Miller; and siblings: Robert Miller and Christine Edmonson.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

In accordance with Polly’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. A celebration of Polly’s life will take place at a later date. Please share a memory, story or condolence at www.MuirBrothersLapeer.com.
