Obituary for Wayne Ernest Ballard

Wayne Ernest Ballard, age 83, of Davison, formerly of North Carolina and Florida, died Sunday, February 18, 2018. He was born February 9, 1935, to parents Walter and Marjorie (Curtis) Ballard.

Wayne graduated from Davison High School, Class of 1953. He went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. Wayne married Glenda Minner Clasper in 1963, in Flint. Mr. Ballard was a skilled trade worker for A.C. Spark Plug in Flint, retiring in 1983. He was an extremely active runner, he loved running and was still able to get outside and run until a couple years ago. Wayne loved the outdoors, while living in Florida he learned to scuba dive and got his United States Coast Guard Captain’s License. While living in the Juno Beach, Florida area, he was a charter boat “Captain”. Mr. and Mrs. Ballard had a great time with family and friends, wherever they were. Wayne was just an “All Around Great Guy”!

Mr. Ballard is survived by his children: Nancy (Rick) Zemmer of Lapeer, Paul Clasper of Fenton, Patti Bernard of Swartz Creek and David (Cristine) Ballard of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brothers: Ken (Nancy) Ballard of Davison and Larry (Millie) Ballard of Davison. He was preceded in death by his wife: Glenda Ballard; daughter, Deborah Williams; parents: Walter and Marjorie Ballard; and brother: Chuck Ballard.

No formal funeral service will take place. In accordance with Wayne’s wishes cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer.
