Obituary for Marilyn Irene Heckman

Marilyn Irene Heckman, age 67, lifetime Lapeer resident, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 11, 1951 in Lapeer, to Earl and Beatrice (McCoy) Kage.

Marilyn graduated from Lapeer High School, Class of 1969. She married Perry Heckman I, on July 12, 1969. Mr. and Mrs. Heckman own and operate Heckman Dairy Farm in Lapeer, along with their family. Marilyn worked long, hard, dedicated hours… alongside her husband and family, on the farm. She worked more recently for Lapeer Community Schools, first as a janitor and then as a paraprofessional…Marilyn loved working with children. She also enjoyed shopping and going to dinner with friends and family, especially Judy, Bill, Darlene and Dick. Mrs. Heckman was a dedicated, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend…family and friends were very important to her. Marilyn's family would like to extend a special thank you to Angie, for all her loving care.

Mrs. Heckman is survived by her husband: Perry Heckman, I of Lapeer; children: Perry (Angie) Heckman, II of Lapeer, Shelly (David) Bowman of Clifford and Tammy (Tom) Markle of Dansville, MI; grandchildren: Shantel Markle, Corey Markle, Matthew Heckman, Jason Heckman and Cassie Heckman; "adopted children": the Rich and Mae Lynn Shaver Family, the Larry and Julie Kardell Family, Dwayne Hawk, Nicole Wernette and Ryan Higgins, to name a few...; and siblings: Jim (Anna) Kage of Lapeer, Gary (Cathy) Kage of Ortonville and Terry (Mary) Kage of Marlette. She was preceded in death by her parents: Earl and Beatrice Kage; and brother: Earl “Butch” Kage, Jr..

In accordance with Marilyn’s wishes, cremation had taken place. No formal funeral service will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to Karmanos Cancer Institute, 1375 N. Main St., Lapeer, MI 48446. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.MuirBrothersLapeer.com
