Obituary for Wilma Jean Anderson

ANDERSON, WILMA, 98, of Davison, Michigan, died on July 26, 2018.
Wilma Jean Anderson was born in Flint, Michigan on Valentine's Day, 1920, "just in time for breakfast" as her mother said. She was the daughter of William and Margaret (McLaren) Snider. At Central Michigan University she met and later married Thomas D. Anderson. Their early married life was a story of World War II's "greatest generation". While Wilma's husband was serving as a medic in the European theater, she worked at Bell Telephone in Flint for the duration. They were later blessed with three children: William, Marilyn (Fred) Smedley and James, who survive her. Wilma assisted in the family business and also worked for Citizen's Bank. Her husband died in 1976. In her retirement years she traveled widely, enjoyed family and friends, clubs and cultural organizations. She was an active volunteer, especially enjoying her work with McLaren Hospital Auxiliary. She loved her church, and over the years was a member of St. Dunstan's, St. Paul's and St. Christopher's Episcopal Churches. A funeral service will be held on at 2:00PM Monday, July 30, 2018 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Flint. The Reverends Daniel Scheid, Barbara Cavin and Sue Colavencenzo will officiate. Visitation will be held in the church from 12-2PM Monday, just prior to the service. Burial will be at Sunset Hills. In addition to her three children, Wilma is survived by her granddaughters Courtney (Justin) Bessolo and Caron O'Reilly, and great granddaughter Delila; niece Lucinda (Jim) Farley, and many friends. A special gratitude to the helpers who enabled Wilma to stay in her beloved home: Roma, Debbie Cathy and Kathy, and to Dr. Ishaque and his staff for their kind care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mc Laren Hospital Auxiliary or the St. Paul's Episcopal Church's Tuesday lunch program.
