Charles “Charlie” Straub, 94, of Clearwater, Florida, (formerly of Cinncinnati, Ohio) died Monday, August 20, 2018.

Charles was born February 28, 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky to Mack and Marge Straub. He served his country proudly for three years in the US Army during WWII. Charlie was a tool & die maker for GE Aviation in Cinncinnati for 25 years. He always said he was the “luckiest man in the world” siting his military service (three years as a medic during WWII & never saw a gun), his 68 year marriage to Laura, the day he got fired from Baldwin Piano & immediately got hired into GE Aviation and also the fact that he married Marilyn (nee, Martin) Libby on January 13, 2017.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Marilyn Libby Straub of Metamora; his son, Charles “Tom” (Carol) Straub of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren: Blake (Joe) Drescher, Michael Drescher and Sean Drescher; two great grandchildren; five step-children: William (Erin) Libby, Jr. of Cleveland, SC, Kimberly Powell of Lapeer, Rebecca (Steven) Conley of Attica, Timothy (Lori) Libby of Cathedral, CA and Sara (Andrea) Dickenson of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura (nee, Mattingly) Straub; his daughter, Shirley Jean Drescher; brother, Robert Straub and his aforementioned parents.

In keeping with Charlie’s wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home and there will be no formal funeral or memorial services.
